Applying for a TC — everything you need to know

Important: Transfer Certificates are issued strictly to departing students. The certificate must be surrendered to the new school at the time of admission and cannot be retained by the student.

TC Process

How to Apply for a Transfer Certificate

Submit Written Application

Parent or guardian submits a handwritten application to the school office requesting the TC, stating the reason for leaving.

Clear All Dues

All outstanding fees, library dues, and any pending fines must be cleared before the TC is processed.

Processing Time

TC is issued within 7 working days of receiving the application and clearance of dues.

Collection

Collect the TC from the school office in person. Parent/guardian must bring their ID proof at the time of collection.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to get a TC?

TC is issued within 7 working days after the application and clearance of all dues. Urgent cases may be considered on request.

Is there a fee for the Transfer Certificate?

No. The Transfer Certificate is issued free of charge. However, duplicate TCs require a nominal fee of ₹ 100.

Can TC be issued during board exam preparation period?

TC issuance for Class X and XII students during the academic session may be withheld until after board examinations, as per CBSE guidelines.

What if the TC is lost?

A duplicate TC can be issued upon submission of a written application along with an affidavit and a ₹ 100 fee.

Can TC be collected by someone other than the parent?

Yes, with a written authorisation letter from the parent/guardian along with the authorised person's photo ID.
